Throughout this class I’ve watched my skill set grow. I’ve learned how to use many types of paints, and techniques. My favorite part of this class was using oil paint, as I’ve found it to be my favorite medium. I like how rich and smooth the colors are, and how easy it is to manipulate the paints. Although I enjoyed most of this class, my least favorite part was color pencil. I didn’t like how difficult blending was. I’m very happy that I took this class, as I will use these techniques for the rest of my art career.
In Progress/original photo Final In this piece I painted my dog, Tiger, using oil paints. This has been my favorite piece yet, and I think it shows how much i’ve progresses this semester. I really enjoy the colors I used in this piece. If I were to redo this piece, I would change the background.
Reference In Progress Final In my oil paint landscape I used many different techniques to bring my portrait to life. I used different types of brush sizes and strokes to create texture and depth. My favorite part about my piece are the elephants. If I could redo my piece I would put more detail in the greenery in the background and foreground. I gained experience painting animals, as I've never used oil paint.
Original photo Final In my self portrait I used complementary colors and and abstract painting style. I enjoy the colors I used throughout the piece. If I were to redo this project, I would correct the proportions, and try out a different art style.
