In this assignment we were given the task to draw two objects, one is pen and one in pencil. We had twenty minutes for both drawings, and weren’t able to lift up our pens. In the first picture, I drew a shell from nature using a black pen. I finished under twenty minutes so therefore, I drew it from two other angles. In my second drawing, I used graphite to draw a box of Crayola crayons that have been scattered.

In these portraits we had to draw four pictures without picking the pencil/pen up. The first two pictures, of a camera and vases, are drawn using a black pen. The last two pictures, of a tube of lotion and a stuffed bear, are done in graphite.
I took this photo of a sign I saw while on the highway. This sign is relaying a safety message to tell people to stay home, and keep yourself and others safe. I continued to incorporate blue in my photo. The orange in the lettering really emphasizes they main focus point of the picture. My idea behind the piece was how i see these messages quite often, and how it related to this assignment. I was inspired how the virus had impacted entire nations, and how public warnings like this are let out. My piece shows this by capturing this sign where many people everyday read this message. I learned from this assignment that even if you have different looking pictures, using similar themes, colors, and emphasis it can tie them together.
This photograph is of one of my friends after school, while we social distanced. In the picture I captured the fact he is wearing a mask and has his backpack to tie in school and quarantine. I had the blue sky in the background to add to the theme of blue. My friend is the main focus of this picture, but the clouds and greenery also are attraction points. What inspired me to take this is how doing simple things like learning, or being with friends, is complicated. My piece shows this by using the mask and the distance between us.
This is a picture of my younger sister who is starting her first year of middle school online. I captured her in her classroom meet doing her work. The main focus is of the screen of the computer, but there are details like her hands, head, and school supplies in the background. The main emphasis is on the screen, while the back is defocused. In all three portraits i tried to keep the similar color of blue in the background. My main idea behind this piece is to show how different her middle school experience will be compared to mine. I find it successful how I showed how quarantine affects people’s normal lives.
I drew a street scene at 1 point perspective using graphite pencil. I used a ruler to sketch out the lines then went over bolder to show more detail.
I drew a pair of Jordan 1 sneakers with flowers growing out of them, using graphite pencils. The darker areas are supposed to represent shading while the white/lighter areas, are highlights.
I drew a portrait of the rapper, Mavi, using colored pencils. I attempted to draw him like a thermal camera would take a picture. I used warmer colors has highlights, and cooler colors as shadows.
I was assigned to draw my own hand, while adding value. I used graphite pencils to make it as realistic as possible.
